Lorde may have one hit single on the Billboard Hot 100, and it almost seems as if the fame has started to get to her now that she’s taking shots at Drake and Nicki Minaj.
The 16-year old who was supposedly in a brief feud with Selena Gomez, The Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift has now focused on the Young Money artists by slamming their music which she describes as “irrelevant”.
The New Zealand born singer recently explained that because she can’t relate to such “opulence” that both Nicki and Drake talk about in their songs, she finds the songs utter pointless, suggesting that she eventually stopped listening to their music.
She says: “Around the middle of last year I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake. They all sing about such opulence, stuff that just didn’t relate to me—or anyone that I knew. I began thinking, ‘How are we listening to this? It’s completely irrelevant’.”
Wow! Lorde is talented, and if you haven’t heard her album Pure Heroine I’d definitely recommend it, but starting these feuds with so many artists might end up backfiring on her in the end. That said, she makes a good point by stating that some of the music we hear these days, we certainly can’t relate to – “waking up in a new Bugatti,” etc.
What do you make of the singer’s comments against Nicki Minaj and Drake? Rude or harmless and just stating the truth?
