The singer who famously left the show in 2010 to become a judge on the U.S version, has now inked a $2.5 million deal with the production company after Simon Cowell supposedly begged her to come back.
The two had a huge falling out because Simon made her look like a complete fool, firing her during the audition stages in the first series on the U.S version.
Cheryl vowed to never speak with him again but of course money can always change somebody’s mind.
The Geordie beauty will be joining Simon on this year’s panel while two judges are still being searched for. “The deal was done over the weekend. Simon is absolutely delighted to have her back on the judging panel,” a source revealed.
“Over the last 18 months, Cheryl and Simon have got back in touch and slowly repaired their relationship… And in January they had dinner with Peter Fincham at Simon’s London house… It’s all very last minute but now there’s due to be an announcement… It’s really exciting… Simon is delighted that she is back. With him and her on the panel it’s a dream ticket.”
Nicole Scherzinger has announced she won’t return because she wants to focus on her music career while Gary Barlow became “too busy” to focus on the show which usually films for six months at a time.
$2.5 million has made Cheryl become the highest-paid judge on the X Factor in history. The highest that the show has forked out was $2 million to hire Gary and Sharon Osbourne for last series. Oh, and Sharon also won’t be coming back either. Haha!
There’s a slight chance Dannii Minogue could make a return after having become the viewers’ favorite judge back in 2010 while Rita Ora was also said to have been in negotiations with the network for a potential deal.
This begs the question — are you excited for Cheryl Cole’s return to X Factor?
