The rapper will be pleased to hear that his sixth studio album not only snagged the top position, it also managed to beat out fierce competition from the likes of Pharrell.
According to Billboard, Ross’ latest release managed to shift a whopping 184,726 copies in its first week. An impressive number seeing that the 38-year old was predicted to sell between 145-155k.
There’s no denying that the handful of radio interviews and strong social media following helped Rick promote his record — the entire MMG clan went crazy on Twitter as they joined forces to get their fans to buy the album. Now that’s what you call a team.
Pharrell on the other hand had to settle for the second spot after shifting 110,090 copies in his first week with his newest album G I R L, also beating its predictive sales with 95k. We’d say that his song Happy definitely helped those numbers rise, don’t you?
Rick Ross could very well hold on to the top spot for another week with numbers like those seeing that there’s really no competition for the Teflon Done right now.
Speaking of Teflon Don, Rick’s victory to receive the number one spot means he now has five albums that have gone straight to number one with the exception of Teflon Don (which debuted at number 2).
Have you bought the album yet?
