Demi Lovato has apologized for her fans’ outrage towards Kathy Griffin who called the singer a “douche” for making a big deal over Lady Gaga’s SXSW vomit performance.
You may remember Gaga’s performance last week at the festival, where she had one dancer vomit all over her body.
Gaga described it as “a form of art,” but Demi was quick to judge, saying at the time that the idea was disrespectful to people with eating disorders.
Kathy explained who she thought was the biggest douchebag in Hollywood, which she said would have to be the former Disney star: “Probably [Demi] Lovato. Plus she should calm the f down bout Lady Gaga gettin barfed on.”
Demi’s fans were quick to send out hateful messages towards the comedienne over the comment she had made earlier in the day. Thousands of death threats were made on Griffin’s account, leading Demi to apologize on her fans’ behalf.
“@kathygriffin no one should ever wish those things upon ANYONE. I apologize on others behalf. I do NOT approve of that at all. Sorry 4 that.”
She then continued with a full-length essay:
“I love you guys so much but y’all gotta chill with sending hate towards other people. Regardless of what they say or do.. The cruel things some of you are saying can really, REALLY hurt people. It’s called cyber-bullying and somethings should NEVER be wished upon EVER. No matter WHAT. It makes me so sad to see how mean people can really be after all I’ve spoken out about anti-bullying. Be an example for other haters. I know my #Lovatics are better than that. I really appreciate you guys always having my back but this is going way too far. Please spread [peace] not hate…. 🙁 🙁 :-(“
