The Fashion Police host went in on the actress on the Howard Stern Show last night where she explained that Dunham is sending out the wrong message to fans that it’s okay to be fat and get diabetes — a harsh comment that even Howard didn’t agree with.
“How could she wear dresses above the knee?” Joan started off by saying before Howard butted in by defending Lena when he said that she’s simply staying true to who she is and sees no reason why she should change herself for Hollywood.
“But that’s wrong! You’re sending a message out to people saying, ‘It’s OK! Stay fat! Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers,’” Joan went on to say.
Her comments have since pissed off a lot of people who think her choice of words were inconsiderate and rude. Well, that’s Joan for ya. Rivers tends to always make headlines when she stops through Howard’s radio show.
Whether it’s her feud with Chelsea Handler or how much she dislikes the way Kim’s baby North West, it’s always something that the comedienne doesn’t agree with or can’t stand.
As for Lena Dunham’s recent Vogue magazine cover, Joan added: “There she was looking gorgeous. You didn’t know it was her,” when referring to the amount of retouching and Photoshop work had gone into the effort of making her look “beautiful”.
“I love that she’s funny, I love that she did well… but don’t let them laugh at you physically.”
“If you look the way you look, Lena, and that’s fine and you’re funny, don’t say it’s okay that other girls can look like this. Try to look better.”
Harsh comments by Ms. Rivers — do you agree?
