The photo quickly got the attention from thousands of fans who retweeted it and shared it on other social media platforms, giving it even more publicity than it should’ve gotten.
Long story short, the image came out and people were convinced it was true.
Trey has been targeted with claims that he’s gay for years now, so for someone to make the Photoshopped photo was pretty much their way of pranking the singer and his fans in a way that would make it seem believable seeing that stories about Trey being gay have circulated for some time.
The R&B singer was less than impressed when he took to his real Twitter page to confirm that the fake screenshot was manipulated and edited.
But it seemed like his bigger issue was with the people that actually believed it, writing: “The things you people craft up with hatred in your hearts.”
“The things people believe without question, or validity, all baffles me. Photoshop and a retweet is all people need to believe, any and everything. I feel bad for the impressionable, no minds of their own. If I’m gay then Tupac bringing me a ounce for this session wit Biggie tomorrow. No weapon. #LOVE. last tweet was funny doe!!”
Trey Songz isn’t the first, and definitely won’t be the last celebrity who gets pranked on Twitter by someone who clearly has too much time making up these Photoshopped photos of these celebs.
The fact that people didn’t even bother to see whether it was real or not by simply doing a background check on his actual Twitter page is pretty hilarious though.
So there ya have it. Trey isn’t gay… allegedly. Just kidding — haha.
