Kim Kardashian’s Vogue cover is set to be become the best-selling Vogue issue… EVER!
The shocking report comes from The New York Post who reveal that Kardashian’s cover alongside fiance Kanye West is selling so well, it’s already sold more copies than First Lady Michelle Obama and Beyonce.
Wait, what?! She’s outselling the Queen? Wowza!
This news definitely comes as a surprise seeing that a bunch of fans of the magazine along with celebrities have shared their disappointment in Anna Wintour giving the thumbs up to have a reality star cover her well-respected magazine.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was very vocal on Twitter, writing that she was canceling her subscription after learning Kim would be on the cover. Fun fact: Sarah also moved out of her Bel-Air home last year after finding out the 33-year old was going to be her neighbor. Hilarious!
Okay, so let us break it down for you. Beyonce’s cover back in 2013 sold a strong 355,000 copies, and according to sources Michelle’s issue was a little higher than that.
However, Kim and Kanye’s cover will strongly surpass that as Vogue is looking to shift a whopping 400,000 copies of the issue, making it the best-selling issue, the report claims.
Kanye West became the first African-American rapper to grace the cover while Kim is the first reality star to land herself the cover too, along with numerous of spreads.
So what does this exactly mean? Are models and talented singers in decline and are reality stars and angry rappers the new “it” factor for magazines who need to shift a few copies?
I’m not knocking Kim’s hustle because I’m totally for it — why shouldn’t she be on the cover? Vogue is all about celebrating success and Kim is the definition of that; billion dollar clothing lines, multi-million dollar empire, fragrances, reality shows, endorsement deals, etc.
There has been NO reality star to do it like Kim Kardashian has done it, and if you want to say it’s all down to a sex tape, then why isn’t Kendra Wilkinson doing as well as Kim, or Pamela Anderson?
She’s winning and I’m not going to knock a woman’s hustle who’s been dying to cover the mag. This story will not only make Kim happy, it’ll also mean that dozens of magazines are going to try and snag her for their company now in hopes that she’ll cover their magazine.
But once you’ve covered Vogue, there’s really no way you can climb higher than that.
