How ironic that all four people who are rather good friends with each other happen to be covering next month’s issue. Well, I’m not too sure if Bey and Rihanna are friends, but they know each other mutually. Hehe.
Enough of their relations with one another, check out the hot covers each of them got. Jay-Z is branded as the “mogul,” for obvious reasons while his curvy wifey get the “diva” title.
Rih-Rih is called the “rebel,” while rapper Kanye is handed the name of “poet,” thanks to his critical-acclaimed rhymes on several chart-topping songs.
For us personally, it’s a little disappointing that they used photos of the stars from 2012/early 2013 but hey — they’re praising black music and that’s all that matters.
All four artists are given the magazine cover which pays tribute to their “unprecedented impact on black music,” the magazine writes.
Explaining the reason behind the four covers for next month’s issue, Kevin Powell writes: “It was an honor to write the four cover stories for EBONY magazine’s Black Music Month special collector’s edition, and to also pen the additional four mini-features inside.”
“Rarely do you see today’s unstoppable stars like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay Z packaged with legends like Tina Turner, Donna Summer or Tupac Shakur, but we did it because when it comes to Black music, it is important to note the deep connection between the musicians of yesterday and today.”
Every issue contains other musicians of color who have done exceptionally well in the music industry, including Prince, Tina Turner, Tupac, Usher and the Queen of Soul… Mary J Blige.
