‘The Secret’ was released yesterday (May 27th). At 18 years old this is Austin’s second EP, the first called ‘Extended Play’ was released in 2013.
Since then, the native Texan, has developed a huge following in the music world. At the 2014 People’s Choice Awards, Mahone won an award for ‘Favorite Breakout Artist’. He also won ‘Best Fan Army’ at the 2014 iHeart Radio Music Awards. Speaking of fan army, he has 6 million followers on Twitter.
That is a lot of Mahomies!
It is obvious his Mahomies are loving the new music material, as many of them have been there for him since his very beginning on YouTube. It will be interesting to see how others will critique.
Billboard’s Jason Lipshutz says:
“There is little to dislike about the eight songs on ‘The Secret,’ which range from smirking party-starters like ‘Mmm Yeah’ to kindhearted ballads like ‘All I Ever Need’; with its slick production, theatrical vocals and huge, harmless hooks, the project actually resembles a late-90′s boy band album (and that’s meant as a compliment).
Mahone is a charming pop presence without a whiff of danger, and while he handles these songs with aplomb, “The Secret” has its fair share of clumsy lyrics and choruses that entertain but don’t dazzle.”
I love all 8 songs, but I might be a bit biased. I mean, I have been following Austin since the beginning…when he had less than 1 million twitter followers and yet to have a single out. If I had to pick a favorite it would be ‘All I Ever Need’. I can’t help but be proud!
