Shailene Woodley, the star of ‘The Fault in Our Stars,’ spoke to Ryan Seacrest about the film a few days before it’s out in theaters.
The film is based on John Green’s book, which has been on the New York Times Bestseller’s list for two years straight. Just like the book, the film has been predicted to do very well. It can only help that the book already has a huge following.
‘The Fault in Our Stars’ is about two teenagers who fall in love after they meet in a cancer support group. According to Shaiilene, you’ll be laughing as well as crying throughout the movie.
She said, “It’s real beautiful even to find that balance between grieving over the loss of someone and also celebrating life. Those are two things that often go hand-in-hand without us recognizing it or realizing it. And that’s one thing that I truly love about that story”.
Ansel Elgort plays the love interest of Shailene’s character. He also plays her brother in ‘Divergent‘. Shailene says she was shocked Ansel got the role in ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. They both thought that “they’re never going to cast us in a movie where we’re playing lovers”.
Shailene read the book five times so it’s no surprise she made Ansel read it while before they started filming. She said, “No matter who you are or what your story is or where you come form, there’s something to relate to in this book”.
Make plans to go see “The Fault in Our Stars”, which comes out this Friday! And if you leave the movie with wanting more Shailene and Ansel, don’t worry there is always “Insurgent”!
