She was chosen to play the lead in the film and according to Los Angeles Superior Court she was paid $300,000 in advance.
Producers claim that they shut down production in January 2013 and Wood said she could resume work and then when they approached her she refused to return to work in November 2013 claiming she had met her contact.
Not only is she being sued for $30 million, the producers desire damages and attorneys’ fees.
Wood’s rep told TMZ the lawsuit is a “bullying tactic from financially troubled producers” who lacked money during production, and were never able to “get their act together” to continue filming. The rep adds that the producers did not pay Evan money that was owed and they are the ones who violated the contract.
The actress gained attention when she began a relationship and became engaged to Marilyn Manson. After the couple split, Wood reestablished a relationship with English actor Jamie Bell and they wed in 2012. The couple welcomed a son last year and then recently announced their split after 19 months of marriage.
Since the film was supposed to be released this year, there is a trailer and pitch video available to watch on YouTube. Wood should know that no one can replace the original “10 Things I Hate About You” with dreamy Heath Ledger and she is not too good to be true and now the media can not take their eyes off of her.
