The movie beat Tom Cruise‘s ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’ and last week’s number one ‘Maleficent‘ with Angelina Jolie.
The film is based off of John Green‘s best selling novel and it focuses on teenage love. Shailene Woodley plays Hazel who meets Augustus, Ansel Elgort, at a support group.
Hazel is a cancer patent and Augustus is an amputee. Soon enough they develop a friendship which turns into something more. They open up to each other and travel through the journey of life. I will not ruin the ending so you can continue reading.
I read the book a while ago and finished it within two days. The story provides you with humor, joy and sadness most likely leaving you in tears. I bawled before finishing the book and it leaves you desiring more.
Based on the ratings and revenue, the movie seemed to live up to the expectations and is the perfect summer romance film.
The romantic chemistry between Woodley and Elgort will have you head over heels in love. When questioned about their connection, Woodley told the The Daily Beast: “Ansel came in with these fresh eyes and this beautiful innocence and excitement for what it meant to be making a movie.”
“We instantly connected, and before Fault even came around for him, we struck up a really close friendship and instantaneously became very brother-sister. We have such deep reverence and pride for one another,” she added.
“We’re completely different in almost every way, but are very intrigued by each other’s differences, so when Fault came around, there was a fault in Hazel and Augustus’s stars, but there wasn’t a fault in our stars because we had that deep respect for one another.”
Prepare yourself for this tear-jerking movie and bring a box of tissues, or maybe five.
