‘Maleficent’ Becomes Angelina Jolie’s Highest-Grossing Movie of All-Time!

The astounding actress proved that no one can stop her reign now that Maleficent has surpassed a total of $520 million in sales, making it Angie’s most successful movie that she’s ever starred in.

Of course these sales are no surprise to anybody. Disney have been marketing their movies like crazy in recent years but their brand strategy is very smart, and the fact that Angelina Jolie is such a good actress to play the role of Maleficent, was really just the icing on the cake.

According to NyDailyNews, now that Angelina’s new movie has hit sales of half a billion, she has knocked out ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ from what used to be her biggest film to date. ‘Smith’ has made a whopping $478.2 million since its 2005 release.

Speaking on how much she wanted to be part of ‘Maleficent,’ the actress said: “I wanted to have fun and explore different art and performance in a way I hadn’t done.

“I actually got really emotional when I finished it, and I thought it was one of the best scripts I’d read in a long time because of the issues it dealt with. And I thought it was in fact an important story to tell.”

Angie stressed that had it not been for ‘The Lion King’ scriptwriter, Linda Woolverton, she might have not signed up for the role, and she says that it would’ve purely been down to the fact that she had started to lose her spark in making films following her directorial debut with ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’ three years ago.

“It was such a crazy idea, and I was so challenged by it. And my kids are now all watching all these movies and wanting to play with mommy, and it was perfect timing to have them all on set, playing, being a part of the adventure with me, and for me as an actress, to not do something where I’m taking myself so seriously.”
