Ariana Grande penned a heartfelt letter to her fans following the cancelation of Sam & Cat, but sources are now revealing that the singer doesn’t have too much to feel sorry for — she has landed her own show.
Grande, who learned about the axe of Sam & Cat weeks ago, is in talks to star in a new program that’s focused all about one particular character, an insider revealed.
“It’s unclear whether Ariana will reprise her role as Cat Valentine but Nickelodeon is most certainly not letting go of her with all the success she has going on for herself right now,” the source gushed.
It was also said that Nickelodeon decided to end the Jennette McCurdy / Ariana Grande-led kids show due to constant production problems and issues with certain actors.
“Jennette was a pain to work with,” one source revealed. “Execs weren’t happy when she decided not to attend the Kids’ Choice Awards earlier this year after finding out her salary wasn’t going to match Ariana’s own — which is believed to be triple the amount.”
Following the troubles with the salary negotiation, McCurdy’s so-called “nude” photos leaked online a couple of months ago — the pics were somewhat explicit for her younger demographic, but Jennette stressed at the time that she wasn’t responsible for the leak.
Either way, Sam & Cat is over, Ariana Grande has landed her own show which is currently in the early stages of development and she still has everything else going on for herself, including her music career which has really taken off in the last 12 months.
Gotta feel bad for McCurdy though. Being on the network for seven years (iCarly) and then you can’t even get a decent salary. Those Nickelodeon execs need to realize that Los Angeles rent ain’t cheap. Haha.
