Looks as though Ariana Grande isn’t so sweet after all.
Sources have indicated that Jennifer O’Conner, a fan of the BANG BANG singer, reportedly had the opportunity to “hang out” with Ariana after winning an MTV VMA contest. Unfortunately for the excited teenager, she left disappointed after her meeting with the singer fell short to her expectations.
According to a blog written by the fan’s father, it was reported that Ariana Grande had an attitude the moment she was assigned to greet the contest winners.
“She then approached her fans without a smile—just an icy look as she toyed with her hair. She was surrounded by 8 to 10 assistants.”
“Ariana stood by, with a blank stare” and “spent perhaps 15 seconds with each of them,” the blog stated.
If that wasn’t enough to get any fan upset, Ariana allegedly told the fan’s sister to delete photos in which the contest winner presented Ariana with a drawing. Grande then proceeded to tell security to make sure the pics were nonexistent.
Both the fan and her sister took to social media to express their sadness in Grande’s rude behavior.
On Instagram Jennifer O’Connor wrote about her disappointment with meeting Ariana.
“I’m just gonna say this. Fame gets to a lot of people’s heads, & it got to Ariana Grande’s. She was nice in the beginning rushing through the first 15 seconds of the 30 second “hanging out” session that I won along with two other people.”
“But when she saw my sister taking pics of me handing her my drawings, that I worked so hard on, Ariana made her delete them and then she just left. Not the Ariana I remember meeting 3 ½ years ago. I’m just sharing my experience so that’s it. No I don’t hate her or anything. I’m just really disappointed at how fast people can lose themselves.”
As for Jennifer’s sister, she posted: “@ArianaGrande My sister & I were huge fans. u made @HerNamesJen extremely sad by walking away from her & telling me to delete all my pics.”
When asked on Twitter about the fan’s accusations, the “Problem” singer replied, stating that her mourning for her grandfather is the reason for her behavior.
“A fan gave me a photo of me & my grandpa. I walked away because I didn’t want them to see me start to cry,” she stated.
“I am still in mourning and I wrote a letter to have sent to her afterward but MTV told me they had already left. My heart is still healing and it’s moments like that that make it real again that he’s gone…wasn’t expecting it and [it] hit me like a ton of bricks.”
Jennifer’s sister responded, telling Ariana Grande that she understands but is still however disappointed with the singer’s behavior.
“@ArianaGrande my sister & i sympathized with u bc we recently lost our grandpa too.. u didn’t even give us a chance to tell u that :(”
While its understandable why the picture sent Ariana crying, its hard not to feel bad about the fans’ horrible experience. Lets hope that the next time Ariana decides to have a meet and greet, things work out for the better.
