After a civil lawsuit was filed against the rapper for allegedly punching celeb photographer, Daniel Ramos, and wrestling his camera away from him in 2013, West revealed that his father was a paparazzo and that he understands where they come from.
“My father was a paparazzo himself,” the Yeezus rapper stated. Regarding the alleged assault, Kanye opened up about his parent’s past and the ways in which they raised him.
“My father was a medical illustrator, a Black Panther, a Christian marriage counselor,” the 37-year-old artist stated.
“My mother was the first black chair of the English department in Chicago State. They didn’t raise me to be out here wrestling with random paparazzi in front of LAX.”
Kim Kardashian’s husband continued, revealing that he usually has no trouble with the paps and he sees many of them as “nice guys out here trying to just feed their family.”
The artist even went on to state that some photographers help him with parking and even “watch [his] car and make sure that cops don’t give [him] tickets.”
Daniel Ramos on the other hand is a different story. Apparently the photog didn’t make it onto Kanye’s nice list. Unlike the nice paps West has encountered in the past, the rapper opened up to Ramos’ lawyer on his views of the photographer, stating that “there’s a—holes like the guy you’re representing.”
Kanye reportedly apologized for his actions, stating that he was under a lot of stress over the dying of his grandfather and snapped after he was asked “dumb sh-t.”
West continued, confirming that he “didn’t try to hurt [Daniel Ramos] ” and is “not there to hurt people.”
Kanye was sentenced with two years of probation, 24 anger management classes, and 250 hours of community service. According to Daily News, “The sanctions nor his plea hold up on the civil lawsuit.”
