cee lo greenCee Lo Green publicly apologized Tuesday night for controversial statements made on Twitter.

Based on the artist’s tweets, Cee Lo stated that rape is only rape if the individual is conscious.

“Women who have really been raped REMEMBER!!! If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH implies consent,” he stated.

“When someone brakes on a home there is broken glass where is your plausible proof anyone was raped”

Cee Lo’s comments sparked outrage throughout Twitter, forcing the artist to delete his series of posts and deactivate his account after a lengthy apology.

“Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.”

“I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it..”

“…was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.”

According to numerous sources the singer’s comments were made two days after Cee Lo pleaded no contest for charges that he slipped ecstasy into a woman’s drink in 2012.

Due to lack of evidence, the 40-year-old walked away scott free from all sexual assault charges and instead received three years of probation and 360 hours of community service.

“I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.”
