Portia de Rossi is settling with the puppy that Ellen Degeneres recently bought for them, despite having allegedly always wanted a baby.

It’s been reported for years that Portia has been dying to start a family with her partner, who seems more than reluctant to give in to the idea of children running around the house.

While both women love kids, Ellen has stressed time and time again that she doesn’t see herself being a mother to one over the massive responsibilities that comes with it.

Furthermore, with her career being so hectic, she can’t devote her time to a child.

Rossi, on the other hand, has been dying to have a child ever since the two first married, sources have alleged throughout the years.

And now that Ellen has welcomed a new puppy into their home, it’s a subliminal gesture in what the talk-show host may see as a substitute to an actual child.

The puppy, who is named Kid, is explained to be less of a commitment, Ellen shares in an interview, quoted by E!.

“I love kids. But that’s such a big commitment. And it seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with,” Degeneres shares.

“And I just don’t know if I can—it’s too risky. Like, what if I don’t like the kid? What if it turns out that it’s not as cute as I wanted or as talented?”

Hey — you can’t fault the woman for being honest.

But it’s always hard when the other partner does want to experience motherhood. Will it ever work out for them in the end if they clearly want different things?

Along the reports of Portia wanting a baby, the twosome have made endless headlines over the past two years, as sources are convinced the couple’s marriage isn’t as strong as it was in the beginning.

If Portia wants kids with Ellen Degeneres and she doesn’t give in, she will eventually have to leave the marriage and find someone who will.

A puppy is not the same as a child.
